Movement: The Real Longevity Multiplier (and Why Apples Had Nothing to Do With It)

It turns out my complicated relationship with apples has less to do with nutrition and more to do with a chipped front tooth and a very persuasive dentist. After my motorcycle accident, Dr. A—“A” for awesome—fixed my smile and casually advised me not to bite directly into apples. I took that as “apples are dangerous,” which conveniently aligned with my lifelong dislike of them. But here’s the truth: avoiding apples won’t make or break your longevity. Movement will. Exercise—whether it’s walking, dancing, lifting, or just choosing activities that raise your METs—is one of the most powerful, scientifically proven ways to extend your healthspan. In other words, the secret to living longer isn’t in the fruit you avoid…it’s in the life you actively live.

Adama Diarra, DO, FACP

I’m Dr. Adama Diarra, an internal medicine physician with a passion for bioengineering, dedicated to providing top-tier medical care tailored to your unique needs.

Born and raised in the vibrant culture of Mali, West Africa, where saying hello translate into “Are you feeling well?”, I bring a diverse perspective to healthcare, enriched by my journey to the beautiful Pacific Northwest, USA, where I now call home. I’m privileged enough to speak 3 languages ( English, Mandinka, and French) and to have lived in Africa, Europe, before moving to Oregon. Here, I live with my wonderful wife, our three amazing daughters, and our cat Jax immersing ourselves in the natural beauty and active lifestyle of this region.

My Journey

My dual background in internal medicine and biomedical engineering equips me with a unique skill set to approach healthcare innovatively and holistically. I earned my Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine from the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine, after completing a B.S.E. in Biomedical Engineering at Arizona State University. My internal medicine residency at Legacy Internal Medicine Residency in Portland, OR, provided a solid foundation in evidence-based medicine and compassionate patient care.

With over 10 years of experience as a Primary Care Physician, I hold medical licenses in Oregon, Washington, and California. I left my previous position due to increasing administrative burdens and the decreasing face-to-face patient care driven by conflicting goals of the healthcare system. Private insurers prioritize profit over patient care, while government-sponsored plans like Medicare and Medicaid are underfunded, leading to rationed care. This dysfunction healthcare system, which continues to fail every people like you, inspired me to create Pacific Concierge Physician, where I focus on personalized, high-quality, and affordable medical care tailored to each patient’s needs.
